OOOOOKAY Sydneysiders (and indeed East Coasters I would think) get excited! Brians Jonestown Massacre are set to make it down to our sunny shores early next year. There are various rumours flying around following the release of their track 'One' and it seems that Faster Louder can confirm that they are, in actual fact, confirmed for Playground Weekender. I saw them last year but had to leave mid-way through there marathon 2 hour set because my friend got puncehd in the face. They're definitely one of my favourite bands although Anton is a notoriously disgruntled live performer.. stay tuned!
They ain't breaking any fashion boundaries here (sorry Gareth Pugh) but it looks nice and wearable if not a little average. I do like the boots and the lil fedora though. If you wanna get your hands on any pieces will have to fly to Denmark, and I can't gaurantee you will automatically get as many chicks as Jared Followill, but it is worth a try.
Everyone's favourite 'it is lame and hipster but I read it anyway' magazine Vice turns the big one-five this year and they've been throwing some big parties and getting all sentimental on us. I was only four in '94 (which was, unbeknown to probably everyone, the 'international year of the family') but even I can see the value in reminiscing about the times when Spike and Sofia were still together, Kim Gordan was up the duff, KIDS hadn't been released yet and Yasser Arafat won the Nobel Peace Prize. What do you like best about the nineties?!
SO there are a heap of rumours that Daft Punk will be returning to our sunny shores. The forums are going nuts and speculations are running free that they will be playing around August next year... I would probably go and might even buy a robot mask for the occasion. Anyone who can make a movie as whacky as Electroma deserves an award. Did anyone go to Nevereverland?!
I know lots of people dismiss ads as annoying, consumer driven blah blah and to be honest a lot of the time they are BUT there are some really clever ones out there too... perhaps surprisingly some of the best ads are sponsored by the government or aid organisations (like the UN ad above).
I already mentioned this amazing anti-smoking ad - but how about this one? Oh and who could forget the Olsen twins in that milk ad? (It has even spawned spoofs) Gaaah I really love a good ad. What do you think!?
Ugh not a fan of this hair at all - it just looks oily? Not so keen on the make up either... I don't know how any one manages to make models look bad but they came close (aha!) Photo from Jak n Jil outside the Rick Owens show.
I don't know about this.. I abhore patriotism but some how the American flag as become less of a political statement and more of a fashion one? What do you think?
I just left my job.. right before the Summer holidays and now I need one baaaadly. This is the longest I haven't worked since I was 13 and it is weirding me out...
